Family ties, a good job brought Ryan Hughes home to Alexandria
The lakes, family ties and a job with a growing company brought Ryan Hughes home to Alexandria with his wife and three children.
He grew up in Alexandria and graduated from Alexandria schools in 1997, then attended North Dakota State University, where he met his wife, Angela, who hailed from Minot, N.D.
With a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s in business administration, he held engineering-related jobs in North Dakota and Minnesota.
During that time, Alexandria’s beaches and opportunities for wakeboarding and tubing kept bringing them back to west-central Minnesota.
When a position came open at a growing company, Massman Automation Designs LLC in Villard, he went for it. He is now the service and aftermarket manager for the company, which makes automated packaging systems and equipment.
“We enjoy being on the lakes with our three children and many family members in the area,” he said. “It’s an active community and a good size for raising a family, with many opportunities.”
Three of his wife’s siblings thought so too, and now also live in the area.
