Aaron and Andrea have found their perfect home

Andrea and Aaron Reynolds moved to Fergus Falls in January of 2018. Was it always meant to be? Their story makes it seem so.

Andrea grew up in West Fargo, N.D., Aaron in Madison, S.D.  Both have a military background; Andrea spent six years in the Fargo Air National Guard, Aaron was in the Navy for seven years.  In September of 2016, they married on the Hawaiian military Air Force base of Hickam.

So why was this new home meant to be?  Let’s dig deeper.

Andrea’s grandparents spent summers on Little Cormorant Lake in the west central Minnesota area. “I always knew I wanted to live close to lakes. Summers at the lakes are some of my best childhood memories,” she said.  That fateful door was opened when Aaron saw an aircraft mechanic job posting online that was in Elbow Lake with Prairie Air Inc.  Andrea’s friend Leah, who currently lives in Elbow Lake, said she knows the owners of Prairie Air, Joe and Laura, and explained “they are awesome people.”

Finding a home for Aaron’s skills as an aircraft and helicopter mechanic (he graduated from a program at Lake Area Tech in Watertown, S.D.) would seem more likely in larger communities. So a job in small town Minnesota - remember Andrea’s wish to live around lakes? -  seemed like a great match.  Aaron jumped at the chance and his hiring was a happy event for both employer and employee.

And they kind of knew about Elbow Lake; Andrea’s grandmother grew up there.

Meantime, Andrea’s NDSU degree in public relations and advertising helped her find work with a property management company in Fergus Falls, managing rental properties. She finds that a public relations role in a new town really helps you connect with the community.   Which has been wonderful, she said.

Together with their dog Grainger, the Reynoldses settled into a charming old home in Fergus Falls, within walking distance of shops and restaurants.  And they are looking forward to being involved in activities like summer softball and fall hunting.

“Everybody has been so friendly,” Andrea said. “This town has so much character and there’s so much to do outdoors.” Andrea mentions the trails and lakes, while Aaron hopes the “fishing will be better” than where he grew up.  They also enjoy hiking and are looking forward to outdoor concerts in the area this summer.

They think they found the perfect location in Fergus Falls.  “We both have so many connections in Fargo; it’s nice to be close to family and friends,” Andrea said.

Seems like fate, doesn’t it?
