No more weekend nature commutes for Josh - he’s living there!
In case you were wondering, Josh Paumen is enjoying his rural, outdoor lifestyle.
And he doesn’t miss those years of weekend commutes!
You see Josh grew up in Maple Lake (near the Twin Cities) and graduated from the local high school. He went on to St. Cloud Technical & Community College for carpentry and then took a job near home.
Since 2007, Josh has been spending time at his family’s Minnesota cabin near Ottertail. In 2013, Josh took a job in Monticello, just north of the Twin Cities. But for years, he found himself driving almost every weekend to stay at his rustic cabin on 40 acres of woods and prairies near Nimrod.
Then one day he’d had enough. He doesn’t know what exactly prompted the move away from the metro area, and Josh has some affection for where he grew up. But you might say the light went on for Josh. He gave up a comfortable job for the unknown, moved to Deer Creek and bought a house. He loved the area that much!
Lucky for Josh, his outdoor background found a working home. He loved to fish so what better place to work than the Brunswick boat manufacturing plant in New York Mills. He works in the carpet and hardware station which is perfect for someone who always loves working and creating with his hands.
So now Josh is close to nature, has a great job and still gets to dabble in woodworking. He enjoys all the seasons, loves to snowshoe, fish, hunt and ice fish. He’s cut a few trails on his land as he loves to get out in nature.
Yes, Josh Paumen is definitely enjoying the rural lifestyle...which is exactly what he was looking for.
